DENVER, March 1, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Examiner.com has implemented the next phase of Facebook's Comments plugin. The updated system integrates relevant, high-quality, and authentic comments to publishers and sites that will be reciprocated on Facebook.
The updated Commenting plugin allows users to easily participate in conversations on Examiner.com with their real identity, increasing engagement on both articles as well as the related conversation on Facebook. When friends comment on the News Feed story on Facebook, these comments can be syndicated from Facebook and published as threaded comments on Examiner.com. Similarly, any replies to a person's comment on Examiner.com will show up in the News Feed story on Facebook.
"This is another exciting evolution of the Examiner.com community and the conversations taking place on our site," said Suzie Austin SVP of Content, Community and Marketing for Examiner.com. "This plugin will allow our Examiners and their engaged readers to connect to each other on the topics and information that is relevant to them and their cities like never before. To be a launch partner for this new enhancement with Facebook underscores the value of Examiner.com and the meaningful content and conversations that are taking place among our 25 million monthly readers and our 70,000 contributors."
When a person leaves a comment on an Examiner.com story, it can also be published to friends on Facebook, along with a link to the Examiner.com story where the comment originated.
"Facebook is the social media leader in connecting people and sparking high quality interaction, and Examiner.com is the leader in connecting people to the topics and information they are passionate about," said Rick Blair, CEO of Examiner.com. "Not only are we excited to see our engagement increase by this natural pairing, but very pleased that Facebook saw the great fit in our model to select us as one of the sites to showcase this exciting new feature."
Users to the Examiner.com site and other sites enabled with this feature will be able to comment with additional identity providers beyond Facebook. In addition, the Comments plugin provides a rich set of moderation tools that empower the Examiner to mitigate spam and malicious content. Readers can also help cut down on irrelevant content by marking comments as spam, or reporting them as being abusive.
