Examiner.com Unveils New Look, Becomes Largest Consumer Responsive Site
User-first approach redefines content presentation and management for Top 100 domain
DENVER, Aug. 8, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Examiner.com, one of the nation's leading online publishers featuring topical expertise from 85,000 contributors and more than four million pieces of content, unveiled its latest site design.
With a completely redesigned front end built using HTML5, hardware-accelerated animations and a responsive interface, Examiner.com, now the largest consumer-facing Drupal and responsive media site in the world, continues to move the platform of content creation and consumption forward.
"It's a design for the modern web that will do a much better job of showcasing all of the remarkable content that is created by our Examiner community," said CEO of Examiner.com Ashish Kapur. "Users are increasingly shifting their usage between their desktop or laptop to their tablet and their phone. A responsive web design provides one site for every screen optimized for interactions common to that screen."
Examiner.com's traffic from mobile devices has more than doubled in the past year and is expected to continue to grow further. The innovative approach ensures a consistent experience in web browsing across devices without the need for an app, which is preferred by more than half of tablet users consuming news (Pew Research).
"Our visitors will find it easier to find related content, engage in conversations about the stories, and share them with their friends on their favorite social networks," added Jason Toney, head of Product and Visual Design at Examiner.com. "This latest release allows this to happen in a seamless interface across multiple devices." The new Examiner.com also incorporates new content promotion logic that surfaces the most relevant content from the library to the users. Disqus has also been integrated as a commenting solution on the site.
"This isn't the end of our redesign project but just the beginning," said Kapur. "In the coming months expect to see improvements around video, the tagging and categorization of content, and the ways in which we expose the best content and contributors from the Examiner community. We are focused on delivering the best experience possible for our users and consistently and thoughtfully improving upon it."
