Exclusives Help Website Nynatives.com Reach Record Traffic
Native-Written Guide to New York Grows 501% in July Due to Exclusive Stories
NEW YORK, July 17, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- New York Natives (www.nynatives.com), the premier website written entirely by successful, native-born New Yorkers with an unpasteurized, authentic perspective into life in the Big Apple, announces record growth in traffic for the month of July. Following several exclusive interviews with notable New York figures, including a first-time sit-down with former Cro-Mags bassist Harley Flanagan in the wake of his arrest at New York's Webster Hall on July 6, the site's unique visitors per month increased from approximately 5,000 to approximately 30,064 – a growth of 501 percent.
"We're thrilled to see our numbers go completely through the roof this month," stated Camilla Webster, co-founder of New York Natives. "NY Natives attributes this growth in large part to the extreme success we have had in securing lengthy, candid interviews with New York City newsmakers. All of our Native Icons are either native-born New Yorkers or contributors to movements uniquely born in New York City, and we're proud to have the ability to give first-hand stories of these compelling individuals to readers that are clearly invested in them."
Born as a daily blog in February 2011, New York Natives became a website in development in October 2011 and increased its offerings to include offshoot components such as the Guide to NYC due to popular demand. Since then, the site has achieved significant success in its infancy from these story-based features and its flagship Native Icons section, which profiles prominent New Yorkers and provides fodder for other sections of the site. From October 2011 to December 2011, the site grew from 26,000 page views per month to 78,000 page views per month. It currently attracts readers from 130 countries, with the U.S., the U.K., Germany, India and Canada rounding out the top five. Twenty-three percent of its readers are based in New York City.
"NYN understands what its readers want – exclusivity, personality, and most importantly – honesty," added co-founder Laura Hill. "We pride ourselves in the experience-based stories we tell that clearly resonate not only with New Yorkers, but people around the world hoping to get a voyeuristic glance at the ins and outs of this dynamic city. We're excited to see where this next chapter takes us."
The site underwent a re-launch with a brand new design in July 2012. For more information, please visit www.nynatives.com.
