SANTA FE, N.M., May 2, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- In its tenth year, the Santa Fe Studio Tour 2016 will be two art-filled weekends featuring the work of over 90 established and emerging artists. A free, self-guided tour open to the public, visitors can choose to tour any number of open studios and discover a variety of original art – paintings, photography, sculpture, jewelry, ceramics, woodworking, and other one-of-kind works. Many artists give demonstrations of their craft, share techniques and discuss what inspired their work. On Friday June 17 from 5:00pm – 8:00pm the tour begins with an Artists Reception and Preview Gallery, an exhibition of artwork by participating artists. The Preview Gallery is available to visitors over the first weekend at the Santa Fe University of Art and Design. It is an opportunity for the public to view all the artists' work, pick up a full-color tour brochure and use the convenient map to plan their weekend's tour. Brochures are available at area restaurants, businesses, and other venues beginning in early June and information is also available on the website: www.santafestudiotour.com. Beginning Saturday June 18 and Sunday June 19 – and the following weekend Saturday June 25 and Sunday June 26 — from 10am to 5pm, all participating artists open their studio doors to collectors and visitors. Santa Fe Studio Tour officials describe the weekend as a "dynamic yet intimate total immersion in art where visitors can talk with the artists, experience their working environments and purchase art, all while enjoying the landscape of New Mexico, touring from one studio to the next!"

"Seeing a painting in the space in which it was created is a very different experience from seeing that same piece in a gallery. An artist's studio is an intimate space, containing inspirational elements, traces of the evolution of the work, and insights into the creative process. During the tour, I receive a wide range of visitors to my studio, from foreign tourists to neighbors on my street. The leisurely pace provided by two full weekends allows for discussions, demonstrations and real connections." -- Bette Yozell, watercolor artist
"This will be my 4th year with the Santa Fe Studio Tour. I enjoy meeting all the people who come to see my demonstrations on encaustics, an ancient art technique that I apply over my American Indian photographs. Quite a few visitors become so intrigued by this art process that they sign up for one of my workshops." -- Angel Wynn, photographer and encaustic artist.
