Expo Mexico Emprende 2012 to Feature Top Mexican Entrepreneurs

CHICAGO, May 14, 2012 Designed as an interactive conference open to everyone, the Mexican government is bringing the second edition of Expo Mexico Emprende 2012 to Chicago, a unique initiative that will offer in one place at one time, numerous programs available to entrepreneurs who want to create and grow businesses in Mexico.  The free Expo aims to help aspiring and established Mexican business owners create and grow their own business.

The initiative looks to capitalize on remittances, Mexico's second highest source of income. According to the U.S. Census Office, of the 50.5 million Latinos living in the U.S., 59 percent are of Mexican origin. This group not only contributes with their work to the development of the American economy but also contributes through their remittances to the Mexican economy. According to the Bank of Mexico, $6.97 billion in remittances were received in 2011. The challenge is that 60 percent goes to consumption, 15 percent goes to savings and only three percent goes towards the creation of small business, the main driver of jobs.

Alejandro Silva, chairman and CEO of Chicago-based, Evans Food Group, will present, "Establishing and Increasing Business Negotiations with Mexico."  Moises Norena, global director of Innovation for Whirpool and 2012 Social Impact Silver Edison Award, will discuss "How To Make Innovation the Modus Operandi of Your Company and Alfonso Arau, prominent filmmaker and renowned writer-producer-director-actor for over twenty years, recipient of six Arieles, Mexico's Oscar equivalent, and numerous international film awards, will present, "Franchises in the Film Industry." 

Workshop topics will include: how to navigate the current economic climate, movie business franchising, exploring the cosmos and the aerospace industry, innovation as a key business strategy, financing, marketing, starting or growing high tech businesses, green businesses, franchising with over 500 Mexican and American companies participating and the basics on how to start a business.
