Extreme Networks Ethernet Solutions Are Among The First To Successfully Participate In EANTC Testing Of Service Provider SDN And MPLS
Interoperability event highlights mission-critical capabilities highlighted by SDN OpenFlow, IPv6, MPLS, and Clock Synchronization across packet based networks
SANTA CLARA, Calif., March 20, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Extreme Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq: EXTR) today announced that its high performance cloud and Mobile Backhaul Ethernet switching solutions were among the first to be tested by European Advance Network Test Center (EANTC) for Carrier-focused Software Defined Networking (SDN), MPLS and Hybrid Timing combining Synchronous Ethernet (Sync E) and IEEE-1588 Precision Time Protocol (PTP). Each of the tests demonstrated critical networking technology for carrier deployments supporting scalable IP services and application delivery.
"Extreme Networks continues to deliver first to market and high performance SDN and Mobile Backhaul Ethernet solutions for sophisticated multi-tenant data centers and mobile 4G networks," said David Ginsburg, CMO for Extreme Networks. "Our successful completion of the EANTC organized testing in Berlin in 2013 further validates our ability to support the network architectures required by new carrier service offerings."
Extreme Networks Summit® X670 10/40GbE data center fabric switch and the Summit E4G 200 Mobile Backhaul switch were successfully tested ahead of the EANTC public showcase at MPLS and Ethernet World congress event occurring this week in Paris, organized and conducted by the EANTC.
EANTC's final test plan for the SDN/MPLS and IPv6 testing was rigorous and included 51 test outcomes with 19 of them making fresh paths to SDN testing. The SDN OpenFlow tests highlighted Layer 2 & 3 forwarding, OpenFlow topology discovery, failure recovery in OpenFlow, and policy based routing. Timing testing included PTP transparent and boundary clock support, Hybrid Mode combining PTP and Sync E, as well as the ability to support SDH/SONET transparently over packet networks, referred to as TSoP.
