Fabian 8 Cinema Launches Foreign Film Schedule - Hollywood Hits with Spanish subtitles & World Cinema

PATERSON, N.J., April 1 /PRNewswire/ -- The Fabian 8 Cinema will begin dedicating one screen in the downtown 8-plex to new releases from Latin America, the Middle East and other centers of world cinema. The first film in the series will open April 9 and run for a two week engagement. Los Paranoicos [The Paranoids] is a wry comedy from Argentina that has garnered numerous awards from the Argentinian Film Critics Association, Biarritz Latin American Film Festival and Lima Film Festival. The film is in Spanish with English subtitles. On April 9, the Fabian will open Date Night, starring Steve Carell and Tina Fey, in English with Spanish subtitles followed on April 16 by Death at a Funeral, starring Chris Rock and Martin Lawrence, also open in English with Spanish subtitles.  

The Fabian 8 Cinema is tracking quality movie releases from Argentina, Brazil, Peru, The Dominican Republic and Mexico where burgeoning film cultures exist but are frequently overshadowed here by Hollywood's mainstream releases. Upcoming titles include the 2010 Academy Award winner for best foreign language film El Secreto de Sus Ojos [The Secret in Their Eyes] and Academy Award Nominee La Teta Asustada [Milk of Sorrow]. As new titles are added to the schedule, information will be available at the theater's website www.fabian8.com and through Twitters from Fabian8Latino.

"Passaic County and our neighboring counties include a large Latino community that is underserved by most of larger theater circuits." said John Halecky, General Manager of Community Theaters, LLC which operates the Fabian 8 Cinema. "We're aiming to better reflect the area's rich ethnic diversity by offering Hollywood mainstream movies with Spanish subtitles as well as films produced outside the United States. The area's sizable Asian and Middle Eastern populations will also find movies from those regions included as the schedule moves forward," said Halecky.

Ticket prices: $10 for adults, $7.50 for children and seniors. Matinees before 6 PM are $8.00 for adults and $6.00 for children and seniors.
