Facial Recognition App 'NameTag' Earns Top 25 Ranking In The 2014 Extreme Tech Challenge
FacialNetwork, Inc. beats out more than 1,750 startups and is named a semifinalist in the high-tech competition designed to spotlight companies likely to exceed a $1 billion valuation
DOWNTOWN LAS VEGAS, Nev., Nov. 25, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The Extreme Tech Challenge, which seeks out early-stage companies that are likely to achieve major financial success in the technology sector, has named FacialNetwork, Inc. one of the top 25 semifinalists in the prestigious 2014 global competition.
The semifinalists were hand-picked from nearly 1,800 companies and will now be evaluated by a panel of celebrity judges that includes Sir Richard Branson. The competition showcases startups that the contest's panel of judges see achieving a potential valuation of $1 billion or more.
Each of the top 25 companies will be interviewed by Emmy Award-winning tech journalist Kym McNicholas and reviewed by the judging panel. The field will be narrowed to the final 10 competitors on Dec. 2. The finalists will present at the 2015 International CES event in Las Vegas on Jan. 6-9, 2015. The top three competitors will travel to Necker Island in February to pitch directly to Branson and the other celebrity judges in person.

The announcement of the top 25 was made earlier this month at the TIBCO NOW technology conference in San Francisco, where speakers included Marc Andreessen, co-founder of venture fund Andreessen Horowitz, and best-selling author Malcolm Gladwell.
The Extreme Tech Challenge was co-founded by Bill Tai and Susi Mai to bring together resources and world-class advisors to empower startups that are executing on big ideas.
