Dixie Hummingbirds Fall Victim To Imposters
DEPTFORD, N.J., March 2, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Legendary Dixie Hummingbirds are currently promoted to perform in Macon, GA on March 5th, 2011. The event is the 39th Anniversary Celebration of Rev. Eddie D. Smith, Pastor of the Macedonia Baptist Church, located at 600 Eisenhower Blvd. The group's name and photo image has been used to promote said concert without the permission of the group's management or the brand name trademark owner. According to New Wings Management LLC, the Dixie Hummingbirds were never contacted and have no contractual agreement in any form to appear at this event. However, the imposters who will be performing under the Dixie Hummingbirds US Trademark Protected brand name will be vigorously pursued and individually prosecuted. "Nevertheless, the Dixie Hummingbirds wish to convey their best wishes to Rev. Smith and to the Macedonia Baptist Church Family," states Ira Tucker JR, Senior Partner, New Wings Management LLC and son of the late Ira Tucker Sr., the iconic lead singer for the Dixie Hummingbirds.
Tucker JR, continues: "We... feel as though Macedonia and Rev. Smith are victims, as we are, at the hands of a devious, unscrupulous, promoter without a sense of propriety or conscience... unfortunately, even in the ethereal world of gospel music, goodwill and celebration, there are those who perpetrate insalubrious deeds for nefarious reasons... how sad, for the pioneers who paid the price, the veteran singers who wore the uniform, those who persevered and sustained an 83-year illustrious, legacy for gospel quartet music fans all over the world...shame on you." In closing, Tucker added: "It's really about the trademark, its power, and its protection."
The group extends a collective apology to all of the loyal Dixie Hummingbirds friends and fans of Macon, GA.
