Family Energy supports American Red Cross Home Fire Preparedness Campaign
BUFFALO, NY, March 16, 2015 /PRNewswire/ - Family Energy has proudly donated to the American Red Cross' Home Fire Preparedness Campaign across New York and the surrounding areas.
In the U.S. approximately 36 people suffer injuries as a result of homes fires every day. The American Red Cross has launched an initiative to reduce the number of deaths and injuries caused by home fires by 25 percent over the next five years. The Red Cross is asking every household in America to take two simple steps: check their existing smoke alarms and practice fire drills at home. As part of the Home Fire Preparedness Campaign, the Red Cross is joining with fire departments and community groups nationwide to install free smoke detectors in homes that need them.
"As home fires impact $7 billion in property damage every year, we are happy to lend a hand to the American Red Cross in their mission to help educate individuals about fire safety and prevention." Gerry Haggarty, President of Family Energy.
"We are so grateful that Family Energy has stepped up to support the communities they serve through this important initiative," said Chuck Marra, Executive Director of the American Red Cross, Western New York Chapter. "Their generosity will not only help us give immediate assistance to families following a fire, but will also allow us to provide lifesaving tools and information to help prevent home fires."
