NEW YORK, May 16, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Family-to-Family, Inc. (www.family-to-family.org), a national hunger and poverty relief organization that links donors one-to-one with struggling American families, is pleased to announce their selection as The Rising Tribe's (www.therisingtribe.com) inaugural event charity.
Rising Tribe, the world's first true family sport event organization, is a fun and challenging obstacle event for the whole family -- with 2-8 mile endurance courses that feature three levels of difficulty to fit any family's fitness level or age series.
"We consistently aim to create empathy-learning opportunities at a young age with the hopes that these powerful experiences lead to a lifetime of service," says Pam Koner, Founder and Executive Director of Family-to-Family. "Working with The Rising Tribe as their event charity was a natural fit, as I believe community service is a fundamental pillar when building a strong family."
As part of The Rising Tribe's family-focused events, "Tribe" participants are encouraged to bring a bag filled with non-perishable food items to the event which will be donated to a local Feeding America registered food pantry. The Rising Tribe will also be donating a significant portion of its inaugural event proceeds to fund Family-to-Family's hunger and poverty relief work.
"This collaboration is one that speaks to the heart of The Rising Tribe's overall focus; bringing individuals and families together to change the way we spend our free time and bringing the focus back to the family unit," said The Rising Tribe's Co-Founder and CEO, Gary Xavier.
