Fashion Minga continues to be the LA Fashion Week show not to be missed!
LOS ANGELES, Oct. 23, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- The most anticipated industry preview to the season's hottest trends during LA Fashion Week took place this past Thursday, October 17th at Exchange LA (618 S. Spring St.) featuring eight of the industry's top designers, as well as top-notch artistic presentations from the hottest performers. Fashion Minga is not just another fashion show; it's one of the most in-demand social occasions for celebrities, designers, buyers and fashionistas in Los Angeles! Fashion Minga seeks to bring a cultural and artistic experience to LA Fashion Week, while showing the freshest new collections of the season. Fashion Minga comes together to celebrate the various components that inspire fashion: music, dance, color, shape and visual elements.
The runway shows featured eight groundbreaking collections. Maggie Barry opened the show with her self-named women's line, Maggie Barry and debuted her men's street wear line, M8. Two words summed up the style of Barry's Spring/Summer 2014 Collection; "Urban Jungle," where models strut the runway with over the top looks like dresses with flamingo figures, baby hoop skirts, and dragon eye jackets. The Kathryn Hynes Spring 2014 Collection showcased an edgier look, as Kathryn's trademark "complimentary extremes" was put on display featuring leather and lace tulle party dresses, sexy minis embellished with Swarovski crystals, and geometric cut-out designs. Knitting freehand, intuitively combining yarns, colors and textures; Designer Priska Urban's, Priska Wearable Art Collection dazzled LA Fashion Week trendsetters on the catwalk with her one of a kind wearable pieces of art. Based out of Los Angeles MS SCANDAL is a clothing company inspired by the idea to be yourself and love yourself and showed Fashion Minga guests how to add a little bit of hardcore chic to their everyday wardrobe on the runway. Horse of Arabia, a new menswear label created by talented Designer Husam (Sam) Salman debuted pieces drawing inspiration from the cultural diversity and urban beauty that make up the city of Los Angeles. Sabrina Bradley of BRDLY Apparel brought her savvy and timeless pieces for today's modern woman to the runway. Founded and based in Canada, COQUETTE showcased their uniquely designed lingerie collection, ranging in styles from romantic to risque. And finally, young fashion titan, Courtney Allegra debuted her hot new CA11 by Courtney Allegra for women and men which combined high end luxurious leathers with raw and trendy cuts, redefining cool with her hip and simple runway looks.
Performances included soul singer and jazz man, The Toledo Show, who's also been described as the "Underground King of L.A." Womack and Bowan "wowed" guests with their jaw-dropping acrobatic number and Keaton Simmons captivated the crowd with his authentic voice and masterful acoustic guitar. Control Freakz pushed the boundaries with their popping and hip hop routine, while Bohemia Dance and Entertainment reminded us why we still love the can-can!
America's Next Top Model had an all access pass, scouting many of the Fashion Minga models and VH1 was in attendance to see just what "Minga" is all about. Celebrities who graced the Fashion Minga red-carpet included reality starlet, Courtney Stodden, Actors Eric Roberts and Cody Kennedy and Singer/Songwriter Shoshana Bush among many others.
