Helping kids understand how to use the Nutrition Facts Label to compare foods instills a habit they can use throughout their lives. The Read the Label campaign includes elements for kids, parents, grassroots educators and afterschool program leaders to reach young people where they live, gather and play. It includes fun, easy tips and activities to help make label reading a key component through which today's youth are equipped to achieve a healthy childhood weight.

Read the Label is the next generation of FDA's Spot the Block Tween Campaign. Originally launched in 2007, the program has expanded into a nationwide grassroots initiative through which kids, families and community outreach leaders unite with the goal of using the Nutrition Fact Label as their everyday tool for making smart food choices.
