Ferguson Commission Announces First Meeting
Commission Starts on Path Toward Positive Change for the St. Louis Region
ST. LOUIS, Nov. 30, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The Ferguson Commission will hold its first public meeting on Monday, Dec. 1. The Commission will study both the underlying social and economic conditions exposed by the unrest in the wake of the death of Michael Brown and look for opportunities to enact positive solutions as information is gathered and analyzed.
The Ferguson Commission will examine and consider changes in the following areas: citizen-law enforcement interaction and relations; racial and ethnic relations; municipal government organization and the municipal court system; and disparities in areas including education, economic opportunity, housing, transportation, health care, child care, business ownership, and family and community stability.
The meeting, open to the public, will be held from 12 to 5 p.m. at the Ferguson Community Center, 1050 Smith Ave., Ferguson, 63135. A public comment session will start at approximately 3:45 p.m.
"During this difficult time, we must come together as a community," said Commission co-chairs Rev. Starsky Wilson and Rich McClure. "We need to channel our pain and frustration into positive action and lasting change."
