FEV Customer Seven Marine Receives 2016 Progressive Insurance Miami International Boat Show® Innovation Award

(FEV), an FEV Group company, congratulates Seven Marine, a technology and innovation leader in the marine outboard motor industry, on receiving the 2016 Progressive Insurance Miami International Boat Show Innovation Award. FEV served as a technology partner to Seven Marine in the development of the 627 SpectraBlade outboard motor. FEV has been a strategic development partner with Seven Marine on a variety of projects, including its initial industry leading, 557 horsepower motor. Now, it has worked with the company to increase that motor's output by 70 HP, offering enhanced performance potential through innovative, marine-specific High Turbulence Combustion Technology.

FEV was an integral development partner for the 627 motor, particularly with respect to optimizing power, emissions and fuel economy.  FEV supported Seven Marine with the optimization of the under-cowl airflow, necessary due to the high power of the motor.  The 627 engine is the most powerful outboard marine motor in the world.

To optimize the airflow, FEV used its proprietary airflow simulation tools. In addressing the fuel economy and emissions challenges of such a powerful motor, FEV utilized its advanced engine test cells in order to calibrate the motor to meet stringent EPA and CARB 3 Star emissions requirements, while still offering high power with excellent fuel economy.

The Innovation Award was presented to Seven Marine at the 2016 Miami International Boat Show during the Industry Breakfast on Thursday, Feb. 11. The Innovation Award programs honor manufacturers and suppliers who bring new, innovative products for the boating industry to the market. Members of Boating Writers International, who provide knowledgeable, unbiased opinions, conducted the judging. Winning products are selected based upon the following criteria:

• Have innovative distinction from other products currently manufactured in the marine industry.
• Have substantial modification or adaptation to the marine market if the product is an extension from a non-marine or general market.
• Provide benefit to the marine industry and /or consumer.
• Provide practicality of use.
