FiberPlex, Maryland Gubernatorial Lollar Talk Manufacturing Jobs in Maryland, U.S.

ANNAPOLIS JUNCTION, Md., Nov. 15, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- At the behest of local manufacturers, fiber optics equipment manufacturer FiberPlex Technologies LLC hosted an informal roundtable discussion on Wednesday between Maryland business executives and government officials to address the erosion of manufacturing jobs in the state and the overall U.S.

Among those present were manufacturers and small business owners representing communications hardware, corporate apparel, bulk transport industries as well as Maryland 2014 gubernatorial candidate Charles Lollar; Paul Matino, Trade Specialist for the U.S. Commercial Service, Department of Commerce; Vasillios Peros, legal council specializing in manufacturing and technology companies; and Carl Livesay, Manufacturing Program Manager for Maryland Department of Business & Economic Development and Chair for the District Export Council.

On the table for discussion were healthcare costs, access to capital, and government regulations believed to contribute to the eroding manufacturing base in the U.S.

The roundtable was held at FiberPlex Technologies manufacturing plant in Annapolis Junction, where the twelve participants hope to return after the first of the year to continue their exploration into solutions that will create manufacturing jobs in Maryland and the U.S.
