File-Sharing App Wins $5,000 Prize in FatCloud Competition
FatCloud Announces FatShare is the Winner of its Inaugural .NET Application Development Challenge
LOS ANGELES, May 23, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- FatCloud, the developer of FatDB, the NoSQL database and application platform for Windows, is delighted to announce the winner of its inaugural application development competition is FatShare, a file-sharing solution. The winning app was created by a team of Techromix developers in Romania, who will receive $5,000 in prize money for their efforts.
"We created FatShare to deliver an innovative app that enables people to share assets rather than just data. And we were able to design, build and test the highly scalable cloud based sharing system in only three weeks because FatCloud accelerated the whole development process." said Antoniu-Raoul Chis, the main software architect, technical leader and software developer of winning app FatShare.
The competition asked entrants to create an app that utilized FatDB's NoSQL database, file management system and Map Reduce work queue. The judging panel at FatCloud, which included a team of engineers and FatCloud's CTO, Justin Weiler, were impressed by FatShare.
"FatShare was chosen as the winner because it rivals mature file-sharing apps currently available on the market," said Justin Weiler, CTO at FatCloud. "The app was built in a very short period of time because FatDB removes the complexities associated with creating a distributed architecture, which simplifies and speeds up the development process, enabling developers to build world-class apps very quickly."
FatShare's source code is now available on FatCloud's web site as an example of an application using FatDB, which can be leveraged by developers wanting to build applications that offer cloud-based file sharing solutions. The winning app can be viewed at: http://www.fatcloud.com/papers.
The FatCloud application development competition launched on February 19 and ran until April 2. The competition was open to developers worldwide, with a limit of one entry per person.
