Late winter wildfires illustrate the changing and growing need for fire security in California, making the experienced team at FPG, Inc. more essential than ever.
LOS ANGELES, Dec. 9, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- At Fire Protection Group, Inc., you'll find a team with incredible skill at servicing and installing fire alarm systems throughout Southern California. Their team has over 200 years of combined experience providing emergency necessities like fire sprinkler systems for projects that range from sprawling university campuses to office and residential buildings. Perhaps best of all, their services extend from product design to fire watch, consulting, and fire sprinkler inspection, ensuring that the people and property under your care will always be protected – no matter what your fire needs may be.
Throughout the U.S., the coming of winter is met with a wide variety of reactions. While the holidays are a delightful time for all, for most of the country, the icy conditions and frigid winds last long past December. Yet, in California, winter is nearly always welcomed – particularly for those who live in the state's many wild fire-prone areas. Yet this year, an unusual winter wildfire in Northern California is proof that the danger of wildfire makes first-rate fire safety professionals like those at FPG, Inc., a year-round necessity.
NBC News reports that late in November, nearly 800 firefighters and more than 40 fire engines were dispatched to battle a late season wildfire that destroyed one structure and threated many others in the hills of Soda Canyon above Napa. Dubbed the McCabe fire, the blaze that began Friday morning had burned 2,000 acres in The Geysers in Sonoma County, a rugged area north of San Francisco that produces geothermal energy – destroying a power plant cooling tower.
Daniel Berlant, a spokesman for Cal Fire, said to NBC News that dry conditions in the area and strong offshore winds over the last few days have fanned the fire and allowed it to grow quickly despite it being late in the season for fires. "Absolutely having a fire this large this late in the year is very uncommon, especially in Northern California along the coast," says Berlant. He goes on to explain that this year California has seen very little rainfall early in the season, allowing it to be a very prolonged fire season. For those in Southern California, the lack of rainfall can have even more damaging effects, but fortunately, residents of the region can count on FPG, Inc. to ensure their residences, property and loved ones are well cared for.
It should come as no surprise that, when it comes to fire and life safety, the team at FPG, Inc. practice constant vigilance. After all, their team is led by general manager George Saadian, a published writer on the subject of fire protection, who has built a team that includes the likes of former LAFD Chief Al Hernandez retired LAFD Captain Bob Holloway. Together, the three serve as some of the most respected members of the fire protection community.
