First 5 LA Announces Winners of its Early Care and Education Video PSA Contest
High School Student Videos Highlight Need for Quality Early Care and Education Professionals
LOS ANGELES, May 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Ten Los Angeles County high school students scored big after winning a video contest sponsored by First 5 LA Early Care and Education High School Recruitment Program (ECE HSR). Students enrolled in the HSR Program participated by submitting public service announcement (PSA) videos informing their fellow students of the need for more qualified professionals and career opportunities in the field of Early Care and Education.
"Through their videos, high school students show how important it is for working parents to have reliable, quality childcare for their children," said Amy Williams-Banfield, program officer, First 5 LA. "It is inspiring to see high school students who like working with children make others aware of the many job opportunities available in the field of Early Care and Education."
High school students participating in the HSR Program received training on videotaping techniques and were encouraged to submit contest entries. Contestants created a 60 second PSA with the ECE HSR Program serving as a general theme. Students had the opportunity to write, direct, and edit video PSAs in which they inform their peers on issues related to ECE while encouraging them to participate in the ECE HSR Program.
