TORONTO, Jan. 20, 2015 /CNW/ - First Asset Investment Management Inc. is pleased to announce the launch of two of our new "Core" ETFs designed to give exposure to optimized portfolios that incorporate value, momentum, volatility and dividend factor construction in single solutions that address Canadians' real world investment needs in a simple, yet comprehensive way.

First Asset Core Canadian Equity ETF
The First Asset Core Canadian Equity ETF's investment objective is to seek to provide holders of its units with: (i) long term capital appreciation with an attractive risk-adjusted rate of return; and (ii) consistent dividend income; through investing the First Asset ETF's portfolio to gain exposure to equity securities of primarily large capitalization Canadian issuers.

First Asset Core U.S. Equity ETF
The First Asset Core U.S. Equity ETF's investment objective is to seek to provide holders of its units with: (i) long term capital appreciation with an attractive risk-adjusted rate of return; and (ii) consistent dividend income; through investing the First Asset ETF's portfolio to gain exposure to equity securities of primarily large and mid-capitalization U.S. issuers.

First Asset will use a proprietary multi-factor portfolio optimization strategy to allocate the assets of the Core ETFs in order to try to create well-diversified portfolios with strong fundamentals.

The First Asset Core Canadian Equity ETF will be denominated in Canadian dollars. First Asset Core U.S. Equity ETF will be offered in hedged and unhedged CAD$ and USD$ versions to provide investors with the flexibility to choose whether they want exposure to the underlying currencies. An advisor series of each class will also be offered.

First Asset Core Canadian Equity ETF and First Asset Core U.S. Equity ETF have closed the initial offering of their units, and the common class units will begin trading on the Toronto Stock Exchange ("TSX") today.
