First Choice Emergency Room Teams Up with Salvation Army

LEWISVILLE, Texas, June 2, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- To celebrate the Salvation Army's 77^th annual National Donut Day, First Choice Emergency Room today announced that all 34 of its facilities across Texas and Colorado will serve as donut giveaway sites. First Choice Emergency Room, the nation's leading freestanding emergency room system, will be giving away free donuts and coffee on Friday, June 6 from 7-10 a.m.

"The Salvation Army is grateful for the partnership and support from First Choice Emergency Room in our efforts to celebrate and bring awareness to the origin of National Donut Day," said Major Richard McConniel, Divisional Secretary, Texas Division.

In 1938 during The Great Depression, The Salvation Army in Chicago started National Donut Day as a fundraiser. It honors the United States military veterans and commemorates the work of Salvation Army volunteers who used donuts to comfort American soldiers in France and Germany during World War I.
