How BusinessBecause.com got started

Founding duo Maria Ahmed and Kate Jillings went to school together in London and then Oxford University.
They came up with the idea for a specialist b-school networking site when Kate was applying to b-school and couldn't find much good info
Previously, Kate spent eight years in marketing roles at GlaxoSmithKline and BNP Paribas
Maria did a Masters in Journalism at Columbia University, wrote for Euromoney and Global Agenda, and was business manager to the Chairman of HBOS plc
Imperial College grad Sian Fleming-Jones, joined the all-female team in early 2009
The initial website went live in mid-2009, with early sponsorship support from the George Washington School of Business in the US and Cass Business School in London
The networking version of the site, enabling members to build resumes and connect to other members, went live in January 2010
Following the success of BusinessBecause, a new networking site for engineering students and graduates, EngineeringBecause.com, is due to launch by the end of August 2011
