New 48,000 sq. ft. facility fills critical high pressure processing service gap in nation's second-largest food processing state, launching Q1 2026
NORTH WILKESBORO, N.C., Oct. 9, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Hiperbaric, the global leader in High Pressure Processing (HPP) technology, announces its partnership with Bevara HPP, a newly established HPP tolling service provider. The partnership includes the installation of a Hiperbaric 300 system at Bevara HPP's new facility in North Wilkesboro, North Carolina. The facility represents a significant investment in the Southeast's food processing infrastructure, becoming the first dedicated HPP tolling provider in North Carolina and filling a critical geographic gap in the region's food safety ecosystem.
High Pressure Processing uses high isostatic pressure—up to 6,000 bar (600 MPa or 87,000 psi)—transmitted by water to inactivate foodborne pathogens and spoilage microorganisms without heat. This non-thermal preservation method maintains fresh taste, texture, and nutritional quality while ensuring food safety and extending shelf life.
As a post-packaging technology, HPP can be applied to a wide range of products including ready-to-eat meats, juices, fruit and vegetable purees, guacamole, dips and wet salads, prepared meals, seafood, and pet food, enabling manufacturers across multiple categories to benefit from enhanced food safety and extended shelf life without compromising quality.
Founded by Kevin Forrest, an entrepreneur with extensive experience in food service distribution, Bevara HPP was born from recognizing an unmet need in the Carolinas after Forrest first learned about HPP technology while working for a local juice manufacturer in Spring 2022.
"We're excited to bring HPP services to North Carolina for the first time, particularly given that North Carolina ranks as the second-largest state for food processing and manufacturing," said Kevin Forrest, CEO/President of Bevara HPP. "This partnership with Hiperbaric allows us to offer local food manufacturers access to world-class HPP technology without capital investment barriers, helping them improve food safety and extend shelf life while reducing transportation costs."
Bevara HPP selected Hiperbaric after careful evaluation of HPP equipment manufacturers, citing the company's industry-leading innovation, proven safety and reliability, and the Hiperbaric HPP Support Program as decisive factors. The Hiperbaric 300 system is capable of processing 3,700 pounds per hour with a throughput capacity that Bevara HPP plans to maximize at 5,000 pounds per hour, using the system's modular design.
The 48,006 square-foot facility will offer HPP tolling, packaging, labeling, cold storage, and logistics support services to manufacturers across North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Tennessee, Kentucky, and Indiana, with full operations expected by Q1 2026.
"We are thrilled to welcome Bevara HPP to the Hiperbaric HPP Global Tolling Network," said Rob Peregrina, USA Executive Director at Hiperbaric. "This strategic partnership expands our footprint in the Southeast, positioning our extended tolling network to better serve the region's rapidly growing clean-label food and beverage sector. Bevara's addition ensures manufacturers throughout the Carolinas and surrounding states have immediate access to HPP technology without the capital investment, accelerating innovation and market entry for brands of all sizes."
The Hiperbaric 300 acquisition includes Hiperbaric's comprehensive HPP Support Program at no ongoing cost, featuring 24/7 remote service support, field service engineer visits, complimentary food science support from Hiperbaric's in-house process authorities, annual maintenance training workshops in Burgos, Spain with expenses covered by Hiperbaric, and a dedicated spare parts manager and warehouse in Miami, Florida, with 24-hour shipping commitment. Bevara HPP will also access the Uptime System customer portal—a real-time ordering and troubleshooting platform that provides machine alarm solutions and an extensive database of manuals, maintenance videos, and technical resources.
