First Online Job Fair for Postgraduate Life Scientists Opens

SANTA CRUZ, Calif., Aug. 2, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Bio Careers opened the Virtual Job Summit, the first online job fair for postgraduate life scientists yesterday.  The Job Summit features biotech and academic employers like MedImmune and St. Judes in virtual booths and top jobseekers holding at least a Master's Degree.

The Virtual Job Summit will enable employers to recruit seasoned postgraduate life scientists from the top 15 percent of U.S. training institutions. Employers will be able to upload brochures, white papers, videos and webinar recordings to their virtual booths. Jobseekers will be able to browse among employers, download information and return during the two-day live event on October 5 and 6 to speak with employers via video chat.

"For employers, this will be the most efficient, cost-effective way to recruit top-level, work-experienced, postgraduate life scientists," said President Nick Folger. "For jobseekers, it's an opportunity to research and meet employers that are geographically distant."

Employers can reach out to Bio Careers 35 Member communities across the U.S. without incurring the time and expense of traveling to multiple locations.  All 35 Universities are among the top in the U.S. in life science program rankings.

Bio Careers (www.BioCareers.com) has a database of registered jobseekers from 35 of the top 50 life science graduate programs.  75 percent of these are alumni with up to 15 years of experience.  80 percent hold a Ph.D.  Early jobseeker registrations for the Job Summit are running substantially ahead of expectations, according to Folger.

Jobseekers will also enjoy a series of Webinar broadcasts and a Jobseeker Lounge, where they can video chat with each other about their experiences.
