FlatRate Moving Sponsors First Annual Prospect Park Walk-A-Thon

NEW YORK, Oct. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- FlatRate Moving ™ is the title sponsor for the First Annual Prospect Park Walk-A-Thon, which will be taking place October 23rd at 10am in Prospect Park. The 5K walk-a-thon, started by the Prospect Park Alliance, was created to raise much-needed funds for the maintenance and restoration of the park, which was severely damaged after the tornado that touched down in late September of 2010.

Over 500 participants are expected to walk for the restoration of the park, which nine million people visit annually. FlatRate Moving ™ is sponsoring the event with The Prospect Park Alliance, the organization that cares for the park's natural environment, preserves historic design, and serves the public through facilities and programs. Part of FlatRate's sponsorship will be to provide bottled water and other giveaways to all participants and attendees.

"I currently live in Brooklyn. Actually, I live pretty close to the park," says Jon Katz, VP of Sales and Marketing for FlatRate Moving ™. "Prospect Park is a beautiful piece of land with much history and a lot of culture. FlatRate wants to help keep it a safe and fun place to visit."

The three mile loop starts at 15th Street and Prospect Park West at 10am. FlatRate Moving ™ will also have a booth where volunteers will be passing out various prizes and water to all attendees.
