NEW YORK, Nov. 7, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- CNN Original Series "Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown" will receive an innovative soundtrack by Flavorlab co-founders Erik Blicker and Glenn Schloss. "Massachusetts", an episode dealing with the American chef's return to his culinary roots, will feature custom scoring and catalog music from Flavorlab. "It's an incredible one-two punch," said composer and producer Glenn Schloss. "It allows the editors to keep things moving forward as we are scoring the show, honing in on specific cues that are of particular importance."
Producer Toby Oppenheimer ("The Nine Lives of Marion Barry", "Devil's Playground") and executive-producer at Zero Point Zero Production Sandra Zweig ("LA Ink", "Small Ball: A Little League Story") sat in on recording sessions with Schloss and Blicker. "Glenn and Erik did an amazing job on this episode... The original score they created synched sublimely with the subject matter of drug addiction in rural America," remarked Oppenheimer.
With over seventy-five thoughtfully selected composers in their catalog ("Producer's Toolbox"), Flavorlab's co-founders follow through with Bourdain's personalized approach to assembling a soundtrack and, at the same time, offer editors the means to expand storytelling opportunities with a custom score. "Many shows seem very generic and disjointed with just catalog music," explains composer and producer Erik Blicker, who views the method of combining composed and catalog music as an upcoming trend in the industry.
Emmy and Peabody award-winning CNN Original Series "Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown" episode "Massachusetts" will air Sunday, November 9 at 9 PM ET/PT.
