TALLAHASSEE, Fla., Nov. 7, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- The Florida Animation Festival (FAF) is the only festival of its kind in the region, celebrating the art of animation in all its forms. Submissions for 2019's Florida Animation Festival are now officially open and will run through February 10, 2019. The website FilmFreeway is being used exclusively for submissions this year and everyone is encouraged to submit their work.
"Animation is such an important storytelling tool and it really provides filmmakers creative outlets for expression in ways that otherwise might not be possible," said Jonathan Stone, Head of Visual Effects at the Florida State University College of Motion Picture Arts. "This regional festival is important because it celebrates the international art of animation."
The Florida Animation Festival is hosted in a historic Amtrak Station in the All Saints District of downtown Tallahassee; a unique, storied location from 1858 that speaks to the FAF's identity as the only festival of its kind in North Florida.
- To date, FAF has received over 400 submissions from 28 countries.
- Submission categories include 2D/vector, CGI/3D, stop-motion, frame-by-frame/ traditional, mixed media/experimental, and VFX/live action with visual effects.
The Tallahassee Film Society (TFS) is a nonprofit organization. Founded in 1999, TFS was formed for the purpose of bringing foreign and American independent films to the Tallahassee area. TFS presents films all year around. In addition, TFS occasionally promotes specialized film events and guests. The Florida Animation Festival is a multi-day film festival launched in 2016 by The Tallahassee Film Society in partnership with The Pod Advertising to showcase amazing animated films and spotlight both regional and global animation talent.
