The Journal of Fluid Mechanics, along with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, have published a study showing that when a person sneezes, a gas filled cloud is released, with droplets that can travel up to 17 feet away, infecting anyone in its path. Using high speed cameras, they discovered that the smaller droplets can travel up to 200 times further then the large ones.
