LOS ANGELES, May 26 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Tea Party Express National Chairman Mark Williams joined Robert Flutie (Congressional Candidate) and a 30th district Citizens Panel at the LA Press Club today to ask the district's current congressman on his voting congressional voting record. 30th district residents Val Clifford, a Creative Executive and homemaker, and Steve Gambale, an Insurance Expert, participated on the Panel.
Mrs. Clifford asked "Why did you vote to increase your own salary when the US is facing its worst economic recession since the Great Depression?" While Mr. Gambale expressed concerns about Waxman's efforts to regulate vitamin supplements citing "a direct increase in cost to the consumer" as the consequence of regulation that Waxman is supporting.
Pictures of Waxman's reported out of state residence were displayed in the background, along with a photo of an office building on 3rd Street that Waxman claims as his Los Angeles residence.
Flutie shared "We have a disconnected, disenfranchised and out of touch congressman who doesn't live in, or contribute to the economy and well being of his own district... While the congressman is free to do what he wants with the money he earns from his taxpayer funded salary, the fact is that Waxman pays for an out-of-state home and uses an office building as a front for his home here in Los Angeles."
Flute concluded by saying: "When Mr. Waxman wants answers, he spends taxpayer dollars on hearings and legal wrangling... The 30th district resident does not get the respect or time out of our congressman and that is a clear sign that Mr. Waxman simply does not care... The good news is that our voice will be heard when we vote in the upcoming election."
Henry Waxman was invited and asked to attend today's Citizens Panel, but calls and efforts to contact Mr. Waxman were unanswered.
