DAYTONA, Fla., Nov. 20, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The FOAMETIX® team arrived last week in Daytona and went straight to work setting up the Corvette C7.R. There were some early adjustments to the car that kept the crew busy upon arrival and caused setbacks from being able to participate in the practice sessions.
Spirits were high and enthusiasm was building for FOAMETIX® driver Claudio Burtin. It was a comeback weekend for Burtin and the car woes were to be shaken off before it came time to race on Saturday.
The main event for the Trans-Am series was a 29-lap race that got underway Saturday morning. The FOAMETIX® Corvette C7.R started from the 18th position on the grid.
Burtin had an excellent start to the race and began moving up the field quickly. He demonstrated smooth precision as he maneuvered all the way up to fourth place and set the fourth quickest lap time of the event.
"Our FOAMETIX® team and crew members did a great job here at Daytona this weekend with the Corvette C7.R," said Claudio Burtin. "I am proud of our efforts despite finishing just shy of the podium this weekend and we are looking forward to the upcoming 2015 season."

Claudio Burtin leaves Daytona with a Top 5 finish and an announcement that the team has signed a two-year sponsorship agreement with FOAMETIX® to contend in the full Trans Am championship schedule in 2015 and 2016.
The first race of the Trans Am 2015 schedule is set for Sebring International Raceway on March 1.
