FOCUS Helping College Students Register, Vote For Life
New social media campaign assists students with absentee voting, offers guides for making educated choices
DENVER, Sept. 26, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- FOCUS, the Fellowship of Catholic University Students, has launched a social media campaign to encourage voter turnout for young Catholics on Election Day.
Through November 6, the new campaign leads students to www.focus.org/vote, where they can register, apply for absentee ballots, access a Catholic voter's guide, download free social media images and read profiles of local and national candidates.
"We want to let people know there is more than one 'youth vote' and that a 'vote for life' isn't just for older Americans," said Jeremy Rivera, the communications director for FOCUS. "The pro-life vote is young, vibrant, and ready to confront the powers at work behind the culture of death with the gospel of life."
The 2008 presidential election saw the second largest youth voter turnout in U.S. history (ages 18-29) and 60 percent of those voters helped elect current President Barack Obama, according to exit polling from Tufts University.
