SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 21, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Focus.com, the leading and free online community for business expertise, with more than 1 million members and over 5,000 business and technology experts, today launched its enhanced Live Event Platform.
The Focus.com Live Event Platform is a web application that transforms web conferencing into a social and interactive event by allowing attendees to engage with presenters and colleagues remotely. The Focus.com Live Event Platform is a real-time, HTML-5 based, interactive application that allows participants to listen to roundtable discussions online, communicate with discussion leaders and other Focus.com members via live chat, and ask industry experts for business advice via structured Q&A in real-time. The new web-based application combines web conferencing and live chat with Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter social media integration all in one place.
As with all Focus.com events, participants can submit questions to the discussion leaders. However, a unique feature to this live platform is the "Vote-Up" and "Interesting" buttons, which respectively give users the ability to promote audience questions they want to hear answered first, and gauge how interesting the immediate discussion is, allowing them to continue or change the direction of the conversation.
Since Focus.com was launched in May 2010, the site has held over 1,000 live events to provide expert advice for members. Focus.com events have varied from niche interests such as online gambling, B2B marketing, and social CRM to broader topics and breaking news events that affect multiple industries such as the NFL lockout and the 21st century tech bubble.
The core of Focus.com is built around a roster of over 5,000 business and technology experts who offer free professional advice to Focus.com members. Focus Experts are widely known leaders in their respective fields and include Co-Founder and Chief Strategist for Trendline Interactive Andrew Kordek, Twitter's most followed IT security analyst and Forbes blogger Richard Stiennon, and business intelligence expert and President of NAVinture Jonathan Wu.
The current full calendar of events is available at www.focus.com/events. "Since our launch last year, our goal has been to connect industry leaders with business professionals looking to communicate with experts in their field," said Scott Albro, CEO of Focus. "With this enhanced event platform, we're able to deliver Focus.com members a greater social and immersive experience.
