Founder of successful sports and talent agency dealing with transactions, and Ph.D. with extensive knowledge on NFL's revenue structure discuss business effects of NFL lockout with online professional network of more than 1 million
SAN FRANCISCO, April 6, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Focus.com, the leading community for business expertise, with more than 1 million members and over 5,000 business and technology experts, today announced it will host an expert roundtable teleconference on the business impacts of the NFL lockout, entitled "The NFL Lockout: Where Are We Now and What It Means for Business". The event will take place live today, April 6, at 2 pm PT / 5 pm ET, and will be open for free to everyone, in addition to Focus.com members and experts.
The Focus Expert Roundtable for this week will focus on the legal and economic consequences of the NFL lockout. The panel will speak in detail about the real story on the lockout, such as what both sides really want, how far apart they are and who the powers are; the real economics of the NFL and the possible economic implications going forward; and a look into the future and what's next for the NFL.
Craig Rosenberg, leader of the Focus Expert Network, will moderate the panel discussion with two leading experts on the topic, including:
- Darren Heitner is the founder of a successful sports and talent agency, and has extensive experience with transactional work. His practice focuses on litigation and transactional work, including but not limited to sports and entertainment law matters, intellectual property issues, personal injury disputes, complex commercial litigation, property damage lawsuits, insurance defense and business transactions.
- Jessica B. Horewitz, Ph.D., wrote her doctoral dissertation on the revenue structure of the National Football League, specifically the relationship between player costs and team profitability. Since that time, Dr. Horewitz has spent 15 years in the field of economic consulting. She has participated and testified in matters in litigation, settlement, and business consulting, using analytical and statistical tools to assist clients in a variety of economic and econometric arenas.
"The full ramifications of the recent NFL lockout have yet to be explored, so we wanted to provide our growing business community with an in-depth analysis of this very timely and significant topic," said Scott Albro, CEO of Focus. "We have 5,000 experts nationwide who can provide insight on nearly every business topic across the board, so it makes sense to use this resource to engage with our 1 million members—in addition to the rich Q&A forum and regularly published research we already provide."
The Focus Expert Roundtables are 45-minute teleconference events, and for each, there is one Lead Expert and two to four Expert Panelists. The Lead Expert moderates four to seven questions and drives the discussion as the Expert Panelists weigh in with thoughts, answers and feedback of their own. Questions asked during the event are also posted on Focus.com, and Expert Panelists will continue to answer questions on the site following the event.
It is entirely free to join Focus.com, and members can listen live to the teleconference, download the audio file and read the transcript. Additionally, all Roundtable transcripts are made available to members for free following each event via stylized PDF documents.
