NEW YORK, June 20, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Beltway foodies will get the chance to sample foods from the world's "flavor belt," as Foods from Chile sponsors the 2013 RAMMY Awards gala at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel, Sunday, June 23. The RAMMYs is an annual industry event and fundraiser for the Restaurant Association Metropolitan Washington (RAMW) that recognizes excellence and creativity among the D.C. area's restaurant and food-service communities.
The black-tie affair will commence with an awards ceremony, recognizing talent in 16 categories, such as Fine Dining Restaurant of the Year, Rising Culinary Star, New Restaurant of the Year, Restaurant Employee and Beverage/Mixology Program.
In addition to a beautiful crystal obelisk commemorating their achievements, RAMMY Award winners will also receive a Foods from Chile gift basket, overflowing with imaginative kitchen gadgets, mouth-watering recipes, and tasty Chilean foodstuffs.
After the presentation, 1,600 expected revelers will indulge in a bountiful dinner reception, where they'll enjoy creative, Chilean-inspired fare, such as: appetizers of seared scallops with carica pebre and merquen; and smoked salmon stuffed with avocado and merquen jam.
Main-course options will include: crab casserole au gratin; lamb tenderloin with prunes and caramelized shallots; and grilled salmon with olive oil over merquen-spiced quinoa.
A scrumptious desert of carica and walnuts flan, plus plenty of wine, premium beer and pisco, the popular Chilean brandy, will help complete the epicurean feast.
