NEW YORK, Sept. 24, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- The Moulin Rouge (http://moulinrouge.fr) made their first highlighted appearance this morning at the Statue of Liberty. The legendary French cabaret dancers arrived wearing full ensembles of La Goulue's cancan spotted blouses and flounced skirts. They landed at JFK International Airport by the way of Air France earlier this week and began their journey yesterday with a glittering performance on Good Morning New York. The French review is bringing "a Taste of Moulin Rouge" to The BEST OF FRANCE (http://www.bestoffrance.org/) festival this weekend. The celebration is taking place on September 26, 2015 and September 27, 2015 in NYC's Times Square. They are anticipating thousands of visitors over the course of the weekend, attendees will enjoy free entrance to walk the festival grounds and see abridged Moulin Rouge performances and fashion shows.

Since they opened their doors 126 years ago, the Moulin Rouge has never before traveled to New York City. They come promoting Franco-American relations by participating in Best of France, dancers will present a condensed performance of 8 minutes, paying homage to their world famous Feerie and Cancan. The French extravaganza will also showcase iconic costumes that have played key roles in the Moulin Rouge's long history during their fashion show. Jane Avril, La Goulue, Mistinguett, and Robe En Strass are amongst the lucky stars that helped set the opulent costume standards. These one of a kind Swarovski crystal encrusted garments being showcased during BEST OF FRANCE are estimated to cost upwards of $350,000 total. All costumes are handcrafted by Moulin Rouge's in house ateliers, from design to production. The Moulin Rouge will perform two live shows daily during the festival in Time Square, and will also host a daily Costume Fashion Show.
