For the Second Consecutive Day, BASIS.ed Schools Top 2016 National Rankings
3 Schools Lead U.S. News & World Report Rankings, One Day After 6 Schools Topped Washington Post Ranks
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., April 19, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- In rankings released yesterday by U.S. News & World Report, BASIS.ed schools were named the #2, #3, and #6 best high schools in the nation.
The rankings, which highlight top-performing public schools on a state and national level, had BASIS Scottsdale as #2 in the nation for the second consecutive year, as well as the #1 charter school in the nation and the #1 high school in Arizona. BASIS Tucson North was #3 nationally, the #2 charter school nationally, and the #2 high school in Arizona. BASIS Oro Valley is the #6 high school in the nation, the #3 charter in the U.S. and #3 high school in Arizona.
The 2016 U.S. News & World Report rankings include data on more than 21,500 public high schools and are based on both the schools performance on state assessments, and how well they prepare students for college as measured by student participation and performance on high level tests such as the College Board's Advanced Placement exams. U.S. News differentiates these schools with gold, silver and bronze medals. In addition to the three BASIS.ed schools that were nationally ranked in the gold category, BASIS Chandler was also nationally recognized, appearing in the bronze category.
BASIS Scottsdale and BASIS Tucson North, the most established institutions in the BASIS.ed network, have also been named the #4 and #6 STEM schools in the nation by U.S News, based on students' participation and success in Advanced Placement science and math tests.
The U.S. News & World Report rankings were released just twenty-four hours after The Washington Post published its annual "Most Challenging High Schools" and "Public Elites" rankings lists -- which named six BASIS.ed schools among the very best.
It's important to note that U.S. News and Washington Post rankings are extremely different in how they analyze data and rank schools. "It's truly incredible – BASIS schools are excellent, no matter how you measure that excellence," BASIS.ed CEO Peter Bezanson said. "The U.S News announcement is the icing on the cake for what is shaping up to be a huge week for these – and all -- BASIS.ed schools."
