Community Day is a day of service that brings Forest City associates from across the country together to provide much needed help to more than 60 charitable organizations nationwide.   Associates are called upon to perform duties such as landscaping, serving food to the elderly, painting, cleaning up environments, planting flowers and gathering kids' school supplies.

Allan Krulak, vice president - director of community affairs, said, “Community Involvement and Teamwork are core values for Forest City, and that makes Community Day especially meaningful for our company and our associates.  It’s an opportunity to give back to the cities, towns and neighborhoods where we live and work.  The assistance we provide to non-profit organizations is so needed and appreciated, especially in times of economic challenge.  I’m proud that this has become a Forest City tradition, and one that our associates look forward to each year.  It is gratifying for them to be associated with a company that values community service as much as they do.”

Initiated in 2004, Community Day was developed by Forest City to enable employees to volunteer their time and skills with local community organizations that they care about and to exhibit the Company's core value of community involvement.  The employees in each city select the charity they think needs help.

Chuck Ratner, Forest City’s president and chief executive officer, said, "I know from the enthusiastic comments I hear every year that Community Day is a very rewarding experience for Forest City associates and for the organizations they volunteer with that day. We truly value being good citizens in all of our communities, and that is evidenced by all of the time and hard work that our associates put forth to make this day possible each year.”
