NASHVILLE, Tenn., Jan. 14, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Streamweaver – a multi-angle mobile video app that allows consumers to create and share split-screen video – today announced the addition of Chris Kelly, Facebook's former Chief Privacy Officer, to its board of directors after closing a $1.3 million round of Series A financing.
"I've been impressed with Streamweaver from the start, especially as a company outside Silicon Valley that's innovating in the social video space," said Kelly. "This is a sector I'm constantly watching and feel very passionate about. Streamweaver is certainly leading the charge in forming the next category in mobile, social video."
Kelly will hold a position alongside current board members Eric Satz of Tennessee Community Ventures, Byron Smith of Mountain Group Capital and Eric Burns, CTO of Panopto, Inc.
"As one of the first 25 employees at Facebook and a former executive for Excite@Home, Chris is a global thought leader on Internet security," said Byron Smith, principal of Mountain Group Capital. "He knows privacy, he knows social and he knows video. Of all the emerging startups in this space, Chris chose to invest in Streamweaver because of our ability to add a social dimension to mobile recording."
New investors Kelly, Smith and INCITE Co-Investment Fund join Streamweaver's original investors, Tennessee Community Ventures and Mountain Group Capital, in the latest round of Series A financing.
"A pioneer in social media and mobile video, Chris brings tremendous expertise that is invaluable to our team," said Jay Hake, COO of Streamweaver. "We're thrilled to have him join our board as we bring the next generation of mobile-video experience to consumers."
While mobile video today has made it easy to capture videos, the social element has been limited to sharing. Streamweaver acts as a groundbreaking departure from today's mobile video apps by adding a new dimension to the experience: social recording. After recording simultaneously with friends, Streamweaver automatically combines multiple videos into a single split-screen viewing experience.
Streamweaver is a software company with a vision to connect peoples' perspectives through unique video experiences. The company's first product is a multi-angle mobile video app that connects you with your friends, wherever they are, so you can record simultaneously and then see what you made together as a split-screen video.
