Former FDA Chief Information Officer Joins Precision for Medicine

BETHESDA, Md., Aug. 13, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Precision for Medicine, Inc., ("Precision"), the specialized scientific services company formed in 2012 to support next generation medical products, today announced the appointment of Eric Perakslis, PhD to the role of Senior Advisor, Bioinformatics and Information Technology. Dr. Perakslis will provide strategic and scientific guidance to the Precision leadership team in the development, acquisition, and execution of products and services in the rapidly evolving field of bioinformatics and health information technology. The addition of Dr. Perakslis expands and enhances Precision's ability to support life science innovators in the development and commercialization of next generation medicines.

In addition to his role at Precision, Dr. Perakslis serves as the Executive Director of the Center for Biomedical Informatics and the Francis A. Countway Library of Medicine at Harvard Medical School. Prior to joining Harvard, Dr. Perakslis held the position of Chief Information Officer and Chief Scientist of Informatics at the Food and Drug Administration. Dr. Perakslis joined the FDA after a distinguished career in executive leadership at Johnson & Johnson, where his positions included Chief Information Officer, Director of Research Information Technology, and Director of Drug Discovery Research.
