Former FHWA NDE Director Joins Forces with Miceli Infrastructure Consulting
LOS ANGELES, April 14, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Dr. Shane Boone, formerly of the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), has been named the newest associate and Senior Vice President at Miceli Infrastructure Consulting (MIC). Dr. Boone brings 15 years of Nondestructive Evaluation (NDT) expertise to MIC, particularly in the area of reinforced concrete evaluation, complimenting their already well-established steel assessment capabilities.

Dr. Shane Boone specializes in the research, development, and application of NDE and Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) for the transportation, nuclear, power, oil and gas, and tower industries. He has performed NDE on multiple nuclear facilities and systems and developed high-speed structural and machine health monitoring systems for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), Department of Defense (DOD), and Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA). At the FHWA, he managed the agency's NDE Program and performed research on the inspection of bridges, pavements, culverts, tunnels, and other transportation infrastructure, and the fusion of multiple NDE techniques.
At MIC, Dr. Boone's mission is to provide owners of infrastructure with the best solutions to their growing challenges through implementation of risk-based inspection techniques, predictive maintenance programs, and improved inspection and monitoring.
Dr. Boone received his PhD in civil engineering from Utah State University and has served as an adjunct assistant professor of civil and environmental engineering at Utah State University and the University of Tennessee.
