Former NYC DOT First Deputy Commissioner Lori Ardito Joins NY-Based Strategic Consulting Group iDEKOgov

NEW YORK, Dec. 15, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- New York-based strategic consulting group iDEKOgov announced Lori Ardito, the highly-regarded former First Deputy Commissioner of New York City's Department of Transportation, has joined the firm as Executive Vice President.
Ardito's career in government service spans three decades, overseeing many of New York City's most transformative projects and managing dozens of marquee events and emergency responses. In recognition of her leadership, Ardito was appointed First Deputy Commissioner of the NYC Department of Transportation by then-Commissioner Janette Sadik-Khan in 2007. As First Deputy Commissioner, Ardito was the logistical architect for a 5,000-person agency that closed Broadway to cars through Times Square, built more than 500 miles of bike lanes, established 10 rapid bus routes, created the City's first public plaza program, and launched Citi Bike, the nation's largest bike share system. She collaborated across all levels of government and private industry to devise complex and large-scale projects including the NYC Marathon and led DOT's traffic mitigation planning for Super Bowl XLVIII in 2014, the most watched televised event ever, which successfully saw the New York host the NFL event in cold-weather city for the first time in history. Ardito managed the creation of the City's first-ever Street Works Manual, instituting a common playbook for the 11 City departments and numerous utility companies that oversee work on City streets, and setting new standards for project development, design, permitting, implementation, maintenance and repair. Ardito has played a pivotal role leading the City's preparation and recovery efforts before, during and after emergencies and severe weather events, including Superstorm Sandy in 2012.
