Over recent decades, higher education institutions nationwide have struggled to maintain alumni giving, with participation falling from 20% during the 1980's to 9%* today. GiveCorps is positioned to move higher education beyond crowdfunding with a cloud-based giving platform that allows colleges and universities to match donor passions with real funding needs for the first time.
"Fifteen years ago, technology began changing the way we shop, communicate and live. Philanthropy is now at the cusp of a technological transformation and I wanted to partner with one of the best minds in e-commerce to propel our mission," said Jamie McDonald, Founder and President of GiveCorps. "Vince is the ideal choice for CEO. His deep experience building high growth consumer and enterprise networks, paired with our first-hand knowledge of fundraising and evolving donor needs will be instrumental in guiding GiveCorps' expansion."
Mr. Talbert has 20 years of e-commerce experience and a proven track record of helping build and manage fast growth companies and dynamic networks of engaged consumers. Most recently he served as PayPal Vice President of Merchant Services. Prior to PayPal, Talbert co-founded Bill Me Later, the fast, simple and secure way to pay online without using a credit card. At the time of acquisition, the Bill Me Later network had expanded to include millions of engaged consumers and thousands of top retailers.
"I am excited to bring my internet marketing and e-commerce experience to a problem that is worth solving. Many non-profits that are doing great work, but face the challenge of finding resources to fuel their efforts," said Vince Talbert. "At GiveCorps, we want to leverage the best practices of e-commerce to drive online fundraising to enable these organizations to do more good. We are starting with universities and colleges because they are full of young people who want to make the world a better place, and have grown up in the connected world. They are digital natives who will be the first army of givers to power GiveCorps."
