Governor Rendell joins Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Congressman James Saxton on AbTech's Strategic Advisory Board
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., Aug. 13, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Abtech Holdings, Inc. (OTCBB: ABHD) ("Abtech"), a developer and manufacturer of patented innovative environmental technologies addressing issues of water pollution and contamination, is proud to announce the appointment of Governor Edward G. Rendell to its Advisory Board, joining Robert F. Kennedy Jr., and Congressman James Saxton. Governor Rendell is a leading political advocate for the environment and recognized for creating economic growth through investment in American infrastructure projects and green infrastructure solutions.
Governor Rendell served two terms as governor of Pennsylvania from 2003-2011. Prior to serving as chief executive of the nation's sixth most populous state, he served as Mayor of Philadelphia from 1992-2000, during which time he delivered five consecutive budget surpluses and received accolades for what The New York Times called "the most stunning turnaround in recent urban history." Governor Rendell was also elected and served as District Attorney of Philadelphia for two terms from 1978-1985. He currently serves as a distinguished senior fellow at the Brookings Institute and served as chairman of the Democratic National Committee during the 2000 presidential election. Governor Rendell also serves as a consultant and board member for several green and alternative energy firms, including Own Energy, Element Partners and Ocean Thermal Energy and has remained heavily involved in the campaign for government efficiency through his work with Government Sourcing Solutions, Public Financial Management and Greenhill Advisors. Governor Rendell is a U.S. Army veteran and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Pennsylvania, where he teaches courses in government and politics, and a Juris Doctorate degree from Villanova Law School.
Commenting on Governor Rendell's appointment, Glenn Rink, Abtech's president and CEO, said, "We are very fortunate to have attracted such a highly accomplished public figure to our Advisory Board. Governor Rendell is a proven leader and a powerful national advocate for achieving economic growth through environmental innovation. We look forward to Governor Rendell's advice, in concert with Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s and Congressman Saxton's counsel, as Abtech's commercialization phase gains traction in the coming months."
Governor Rendell recently authored his first book, A Nation of Wusses: How America's Leaders Lost the Guts to Make Us Great, chronicling his political career and assessing American leadership. He currently co-chairs Building America's Future, an organization he created with New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger to highlight the need for investment in American infrastructure projects.
"AbTech's products and services address a growing need for effective ecological solutions that create jobs while restoring environmental health quickly and cost effectively. I am honored to be associated with such an innovative group of water treatment experts who are laying the groundwork for a greener future," stated Governor Rendell.
