Forsyth County Schools Engages itslearning In Five-year Collaborative Partnership
PLYMOUTH, Massachusetts and CUMMING, Georgia, December 3, 2012 /PRNewswire/ --
itslearning, inc. (http://www.itslearning.net), the digital learning platform of choice for teachers, today announced that it has partnered with Forsyth County Schools (FCS) in a five-year co-development project. The public/private partnership will leverage Forsyth County Schools' extensive contribution in educational innovation towards creating engaging and results-oriented learning environments. In addition, itslearning brings a rich history of innovation designed to maximize learning for both students and educators.
"It was absolutely essential to find a partner that could recognize our contribution to the project," said Forsyth CIO, Bailey Mitchell. "itslearning's commitment to innovation and deep understanding of the pedagogy behind the technology made choosing a partner for this project an easy task," Mitchell added.
Today's current student information, assessment and learning management systems often become silos of data creating a real challenge for educators. Forsyth's instructional framework, Engage Me P.L.E.A.S.E, replaces this paradigm with a fully integrated system including standards-based learner plans for every student. In addition, FCS and itslearning will co-develop an online Community of Practice (CoP), a personal learning network, designed to facilitate professional learning for teachers and leaders.
itslearning has rapidly established itself as the platform of choice for many leading districts in the U.S. Educators in over 100 districts nationwide are using itslearning to create, deliver and manage a wide variety of digital resources to support best practices including: blended learning, flipping the classroom, personalized learning, and professional learning communities. Over 3 million educators worldwide use the intuitive and easy-to-learn platform.
"itslearning is very proud to be working with Forsyth County Schools on this exciting and innovative project. FCS is renowned as one of the most forward thinking educational technology districts in the world today," said Kevin Pawsey, CEO, itslearning USA. "itslearning and FCS are strategically aligned to provide today's educators with an agile cloud platform that improves student achievement and increases innovation in today's classrooms."
The U.S. Department of Education selected Forsyth County Schools as one of 49 grantees for a 2010 Investing in Innovation Fund (i3) grant. FCS is completing the project in partnership with itslearning and the University of Georgia. Forsyth County Schools is the only recipient in Georgia, and one of twelve public school districts in the nation to be awarded the grant.
