Fort Collins Club Fitness Center Offers Relief To High Park Fire Victims, Northern Coloradans
FORT COLLINS, Colo., June 14, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- With the High Park Fire looming near, the Fort Collins Club fitness center is reaching out to fire victims and to northern Coloradans in general. Fort Collins Club let a local camp use its facilities after an evacuation, is hosting free Zumba class event for the Red Cross, and is reaching out to northern Coloradans for support online. Todd Heenan, Owner and General Manager of the Fort Collins Club, says, "Fort Collins Club is doing whatever we can to assist the victims of the High Park Fire and the Fort Collins community as a whole. Fort Collins is our namesake and we are always looking for ways to give back to the community that has given us so much."
The Fort Collins Club offered their facilities to 150 campers from the Sky Ranch Lutheran Camp a place to shower after they were evacuated from their camp on Tuesday, June 12, 2012. The camp was evacuated by fire officials when the High Park Fire was dangerously close to their main site 55 miles west of Fort Collins. After a long day of packing, evacuating and driving, the campers were very thankful for an opportunity to clean up. The campers have since been moved to another church camp in the area. They spent the night at Trinity Lutheran Church by Spring Canyon Park.
Spring Canyon Park will also be the location of Fort Collins Club's upcoming free Zumba class on June 20, 2012 from 6:30-8:30 pm. Those interested in participating should meet before the fitness programs scheduled start time at the Northwest Pavilion area. Donations are optional, but those who can give are encouraged to help with disaster relief for the High Park Fire, as well as countless crises around the world by making a donation to support the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund. These monetary gifts enable Red Cross to provide shelter, food, emotional support and other assistance in response to disasters.
Fort Collins Club fitness center has also given thanks to those helping with the fire and promoted other charitable events, in addition to scheduled fitness programs, through their large Internet presence. With 1,100 Facebook followers, the health club posted information on their wall about the "9 Cares Colorado Shares" events this Saturday, June 16 at King Soopers locations in Fort Collins and Loveland in benefit of the Red Cross, Colorado Professional Fire Fighters Foundation and the Larimer County Food Bank. In addition, the health club has a blog that averages at 30 views a day where they have posted blogs that raise awareness about exercising safely in the currently poor air quality conditions outdoors.
