HERNDON, Va., May 9, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ --The Financial Planning Association of the National Capital Area (FPA-NCA) established a new benchmark of success at its 19th Annual Golf Tournament on Thursday, May 3, at Virginia's Reston National Golf Course. Record proceeds of over $16,700 and a matching grant of $10,000 by TD AmeriTrade made the golf event the chapter's most successful ever.

The Foundation for Financial Planning was awarded $20,000 of the proceeds, with the remaining funds to be divided among a variety of other pro bono activities and charities.
Since 2002, the FPA-NCA has raised over $145,000 for the Foundation, which helps people take control of their financial lives by connecting the financial planning community with people in need. This is achieved through grant support of pro bono advice and outreach activities.
Platinum sponsors of the tournament were Access National Bank, Armstrong, Fleming & Moore, Inc., and Jackson National Life Insurance Company.

Financial life skills education programs and one-on-one financial planning have been presented on more than 50 military bases and at Yellow Ribbon events, reaching over 50,000 individuals."

First place in the tournament was awarded to the foursome of Craig Arsenault, Frank McGovern, Jason Richards, and Jonathan Shimmer. The second place prize went to Erika Spagnola, Josh Halpern, Rami Futerman, Paul Yurachek. In addition, prizes for longest drive and closest to the pin went to Paul Juergensen, Jon Shimer, Garrett Pierce, and Erika Spagnola.
