FPT Industrial Powers G20's River Security In China
HANGZHOU, China, July 27, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- FPT Industrial, world-leading manufacturer and supplier of innovative powertrain solutions, powers the latest addition to the Hangzhou Port Management Bureau's fleet of patrol boats. In preparation of the G20 Summit of Heads of state in Hangzhou, China, six new high speed coastguard boats have been launched to strengthen security on and around the Qiantang River.
The launch ceremony was held at the Haiyue Bridge Port Center at Qiantang River in the presence of Mr. Hu Bin, Hangzhou Transportation Bureau Deputy Director, Mr. Yang Tingli, Hangzhou Port Management Bureau Secretary and Mr. Michelangelo Amelia, Managing Director for FPT Industrial China.
These high-speed, fiber glass hulled, rigid inflatables have a length of 12.35 meters, a beam of 3.8 meters and a draught of 1.87 meters. Displacing 11.1 tons, these 40 footers are equipped with the record breaking Cursor 9, C90 550 and can reach speeds of up to 40 knots. The excellent fuel consumption allows for 500 mile autonomy, permitting for sustained patrol capability at speeds double the existing Hangzhou fleet.
The C90 550, an 8.7 liter, 6 cylinder engine, features a state of the art electronic engine management and second generation Common Rail injection system integrated under the engine cover for noise reduction.
Equipped with a water cooled fixed geometry turbo charger with waste gate flap and intercooler, the C90 550 reaches a maximum power of 550 HP (405 kW) at 2.530 rpm, with a torque of 2.150 Nm at 1.700 rpm.
Due to the important mission and high performance of these new additions to the Hangzhou fleet, FPT Industrial organized a special boat operation as well as training on engine performance for the new crews. This will allow for smooth operations during the G20, ensuring strengthened river security, but also increased water transport management capabilities in the Hangzhou area after the G20.
