Fraternal Order of Police Launches Our True Heroes Campaign to Build Public Support for Law Enforcement
WASHINGTON, May 16, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- The National Fraternal Order of Police Foundation (FOP) is proud to announce the launch of a new public awareness campaign called Our True Heroes, to spotlight the countless acts of heroism that take place every day across America.
"Americans of all color and creed know that we have a crisis in this country," said FOP National President Chuck Canterbury. "Public support for law enforcement is at an all-time low. We can and should debate the causes and work together to fix them, and the solutions will come at the local level," explained Canterbury. "We need time to work through these difficult challenges community by community, along with goodwill from all stakeholders."
Jim Pasco, the Executive Director of the FOP added: "Today, during National Police Week, we hope that Americans remember the tremendous risk and personal sacrifice that police officers make every day to help keep our communities safe." Pasco explained, "The vast majority of law enforcement officers serve their communities with dignity and courage. Every day, they perform quiet acts of kindness and heroism that reflect their love for the job. It's time we shined a light on their professionalism."
The National FOP Foundation is launching a multi-pronged campaign to help highlight the positive role that law enforcement plays in our communities.
Our True Heroes is a new grassroots campaign to tell the stories of real cops -- our family members, neighbors, and the jobs they do every day. This campaign will kick off with a community-driven website and social media presence at ourtrueheroes.org and https://www.facebook.com/TrueHeroStories and will build throughout the year.
Canterbury added, "Our goal is to tell the stories of everyday American heroes who put their lives on the line so that our communities are safe. These stories happen every day, all across the country. Most of these stories never get told -- It's our job to do so."
"Hopefully, this contributes to the process of rebuilding trust and goodwill in our communities."
