The GT system uses a Closed-Loop Fluid Drive system that (turbine) turns without a mechanical gearing system. The Greene Turbine will use river and ocean currents to generate significant amounts of renewable energy. The ocean systems will generate 10 megawatts of electricity per turbine. GT has invested many years toward the development of this technology and has recently completed a successful demonstration of the technology in the Mississippi river.  The Greene Turbine technology is patent pending.

Greene Turbine was recently the big winner in the Tennessee Technology Development Corporation's Venture Showcase competition, walking away with two awards totaling $35,000. The awards were presented at the Tennessee NEXT Conference, held May 5-6 in Nashville. The conference featured 28 Tennessee companies vying for awards. Prizes were awarded by the TTDC's Technology Maturation Fund program to help promising startups through early-stage development to attract investors or third-party licensing.
