Frbiz Reports 3D TVs Have Huge Market Space

BEIJING, June 11 /PRNewswire-Asia/ -- Frbiz.com, one of China's leading B2B search platforms, reports that 3D TVs have huge market space.

Frbiz statistics on first quarter shipments show volume reached one million units, year-on-year up 50%, in which LCD TV shipments exceeded 0.5 million units, year-on-year up 50%, close to the target; plasma TV shipments rose 21% year-on-year reaching 0.34 million units; CRT TV shipments in 2009, the average rate of decline reached 40%, however, with the World Cup approaching, CRT shipments have also seen a positive stimulus, and the rate of decline for the quarter narrowed to 21%.

LED-backlit TVs accounted for 8% of total shipments of LCD TVs; revenue share reached more than 17%. This is most of the edge type LED backlight models, and those larger than 50-inch LED backlight TVs accounted for 35% of total volume shipments, while 40-inch or smaller TV models accounted for less than 4%.

In terms of TV manufacturers, Samsung still continues to lead: revenue share reached 21.9%. In 2009, Samsung mainly promoted LED backlight TVs, and after entering 2010, it mainly promotes 3D TVs, which makes Samsung's shipments grow steadily to become the world's largest LCD TV manufacturer, and the second-largest plasma TV manufacturer.

Frbiz analyzes that as the FIFA World Cup stimulates demand, the Samsung 3D TV market in Korea has shipped over 20,000 units. In the global market, in mid-May it has achieved the highest sales of 270,000 units. If such a situation remains, in the first half year, Samsung can achieve more than 600,000 3D TV sales volume. Meanwhile, Samsung will be able to account for 9 percent or more of the global 3D TV market. Samsung was the global LED market leader in 2009 and in the 3D TV market this year it is expected to reproduce again.
